Christmas is right around the corner....9 days away to be exact. Danny is SUPER excited and just cannot wait. All the presents are wrapped and hidden away -- ready to bring out once he's fast asleep. We have a few things still hidden in the back of Daddy's truck... the guitar, the art easel, and the scooter. They are big and the last two need to be put together.
School is going well. He goes all next week and then is out until Jan 7th. My baby will be back at home all day with me. We'll probably drive each other nuts. ha!
This week Danny is the All-Star Student. We made a poster with various pictures and he's excited to share it with the class.

Almost 6!
3 days until my baby turns 6 years old. It can't be! Where did 6 years go?? :(
Kindergarten is going great .... Danny is doing so well reading - he brings home a different book each night in his bookbag from Miss Morrison. He reads it to me, and then I sign off on his log. He's breezing through these books, and almost knows the entire list of sight words sent home at the beginning of the year! Math is going well also - he's doing simple addition and subtraction and seems to really understand the concepts. Such a Hickey All Star. :)
Grandma is flying in on Thursday for the birthday bash and Daddy is flying out on Saturday to go to a Redskins Green Bay game. He'll miss the party, but Danny won't even notice. All his girlfriends will be there.
After this weekend, it's time to get serious about Christmas shopping. (gulp)

Tooth Fairy Strkes Again!
Last night we were at Buffalo Wild Wings eating dinner and watching Nebraska play. All of a sudden Danny yells "Mom, it came out!!" That top front tooth had been hanging on by a thread for almost a month. Finally! So, we came home and put it under his pillow. This morning he comes racing down the stairs yelling "I got 5 bucks" That's my boy... .always about the money. lol
In other news, Kindergarten is going fantastic. He's bringing home different books and little bits of homework each week. I can already tell he's learned so much in the 3 weeks of school. 3 weeks! Can it be? Seemed like yesterday he just started. Now he's an old pro!
Less than a month until Danny turns 6! We've picked Chuck E. Cheese for the party this year. Should be a fun time!
We've also ordered our Halloween costume from ebay. Paid a fortune, but it's an elusive one so what can you do? Ben 10 of course. He'll be so excited when it comes in the mail!

Where did my baby go??
One week from today Danny will be sitting in his Kindergarten classroom and I'll be here at home alone. For the past 5 1/2 years we have always been together unless he was at preschool or camp, but those were only for a few hours at a time. This is 7:45 - 2:45! What will I do?? Several options..... I can continue to work from home with periodic visits to the office or I can go in for longer periods of time and take on some more responsibility (with obviously more salary) I'm weighing the options but I just can't decide. I want to be available for school stuff so I don't want to commit to much at work. The working at home thing is so easy too.
This is going to be a busy week. School supplies to be bought (thankfully the PTA has a package available) teacher to meet, more school clothes to buy!

Monday, Monday
4th of July was a blur this year. Danny was so so sick. Fever and just not himself. He watched the fireworks, but you could tell he was miserable. Fast forward a few days after that and he's all better. Not so much for Dan and I. We got it BAD. Fever, sore throat, achey, miserable .... and to top it all off - we both got pink eye. Yuck! That is the worst ever. We both agreed that we've never been so sick in our lives. The pink eye almost took two full weeks to resolve itself. My eyes are just now presentable. Going to Kroger at 8am for ginger ale and soup wearing sunglasses is just NOT fun. lol
But all is well now. Danny spent the weekend at Gigi's again and we had some much needed alone time - and well time - together :)
We're planning a surprise birthday trip for Danny this October. Just a quick weekend getaway to Nick Hotel again. He so loved that place last year. We're going to hop on a plane and not tell him where we're going. He will freak when we pull up to the hotel. It really is unmistakeable from the road with all the characters on the outside of it. I can't wait to see his expression.
Lucky kid!

Tuesday Ramblings
So, the weekend went great. Everyone showed up and we had a great time catching up/swimming/eating. Amanda was in Mexico with friends, so the grandkids were not ALL present.
Danny is going to Gigi's for a few days. Thursday - Saturday/maybe Sunday. We're going to the Rough Riders game on Friday night - annual suite party Karen has for Unimed. It's always a fun time and the free beer and food is great too. Maybe we'll go out afterwards to take advantage of being kidless :)
Rained again yesterday and today. Rainy June for sure!

Rain Rain Go Away
It has rained so much this Spring! Apparently, it rained almost the entire time we were gone on vacation the last half of May. Danny's tball games are so far behind schedule from all the rainouts... we'll be playing Spring tball in the Fall at this rate!
Michael, Terri, Heidi, Michael Ryan, and Macey are driving up from Houston this weekend to visit. Danny is so excited to see Macey - they had so much fun playing last Christmas at their house. We also went down to see them in the Fall. Dan and Michael went to a Redskins game together.
So, this weekend we're just going to hang around outside and swim. David and his family are coming over with Mom and Mark's kids are *supposed* to pop in also. It will be the first time (maybe ever) all the grandkids are in one place at one time. Photo Op!

Getting This Started
So, I finally decided to join the world of blogging.
Danny is in Summer Camp the next few weeks from 9-1 on M/W/F. At first glance, 4 hours seems like a long time to be kid-less. It's not - the time flies. I still can't believe he's starting Kindergarten in the Fall.... it seems like just yesterday he was a little baby.
We just got back from our huge vacation to The Mediterranean. 22 of us went; Faith and her family among them. Danny and Faith had a blast - but the time together began to wear on them. We were gone for 17 days and they did begin to argue towards the end. :)
6 countries on this latest trip: Italy, Greece, Egypt, Cyprus, Turkey, Vatican City
